The End

Forgive this anti-climactic ending to the blog, I've already been home for a week now and I'm only now getting around to writing this.

This was my birthday cake.

These are prehistoric figurines found in Italy, now in the Florentine Museum of Prehistory.

In a mad rush, we did all of the touristy things we had not yet done. This is a view from the cupola of the duomo, looking out towards where I lived.

Look At Me!

This photo is not illegal. You cannot tell what I'm working on. But look at me! don't I look like a real conservator?

Meanwhile I'm weaving my head off. I had this brilliant idea to make enough fabric for a dress. The wider the fabric, the more of a living hell it is to weave. At the point that I took this picture, I had threaded only the group of metal things (hettles) on the right. That forest of metal things on the left was still left to go. One thread had to be pulled through each of those things, and in the perfect order.

The result. Without trying, it turned out a bit like something for a wedding dress. I really like it, though. It looks like it would cost a lot of money.
